My practice is dedicated to the creation of an expansive visual language that explores feminine sensibilities and the philosophy of internal and external duality. By devoting my subjectivity to the exposed female form unconventionally interacting with water, I create a sense of confusion and tension in the image. This sense of the illogical is akin to the absurdity that is the dual ‘identity’ integral to the female experience; external objectification and the internal expansiveness of the psyche. The aesthetic quality of the mark making embraces the nuances inherent in the creation process. There is a sense of humanity and humility in representing a historically objectified subject in a nonsensical manner. With an absence of clear boundaries in the composition, I attempt to unify this duality.
