Kachun Lay
Master of Contemporary Art
My work is based around the processes of sculpture, drawing, installation, digital animation and performance art. Rooted in studies of personality psychology, ecopsychology, and geology, I practice with a transdisciplinary approach. I treat my sculptures as co-performing subjects and use my body as a drawing material. I investigate relationships between human individuals and nature's individuals to explore the communities that these relationships create. Two questions often run through my mind: What kind of space will that meeting conjure? And, what if scale was not an issue? Through material exploration along with physical and virtual interaction, I make work that is in a hybrid-state between the natural and artificial realm.
