Kostas Pavlidis

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting)

Working with painting and drawing to investigate the everyday performance of life, I explore the construction, function and overall surplus of ‘the image.’ Working from photos that I intuitively collect and archive, I use cropping to present unexpected thematic ties between vastly different subject matters. I seek to flatten the sense of time and context which are often implied through the factuality of photographs, in an attempt to mute the noise that is inherent in most visual stimulation.
