I often think of myself as a character in my life. Someone I am obliged to love but do not really like. All of my work stems from my conflict with my identity. It manifests through investigations into what forms identity; practices and influences that push and pull us towards an idea of ‘who we are.’ My current focus is on family and the practice of using family research as a way to define and justify choices, actions and identities. I use re-photography, which I define as the retaking and representing of pre-existing photographs to create a critical discourse, to examine how we build identity and family histories around photographs and family albums.
