Contradiction is crucial to human life. So is yearning for comfort in a world as conflicted and overwhelming as ours. We are constantly in search of a moment of solace to cling to, just as a child yearns for their favourite toy when they are upset. Through a process often beginning with drawing and ending in sculptural installation, I aim to dissect the duality of comfort and discomfort in a bid to analyse their similarities. This process, in turn, becomes a confession of my own conflicted relationship with distress and begs the question: If the unease propelling my hunt for warmth is more comforting than the final destination itself, is a mindless pursuit of the middle ground a distraction enough from a tense and polarised world?
