The artworks I make traverse feminism, perception, liminality and bias. They operate in a range of media, including soundscape, performance, installation and video. My Hand Ascends is about women's hands and the work they do to clear space for men to dream and create. Referencing Ascension, by Bill Viola, it is an incantation for the future; a reconfiguring of who gets access to self-actualisation. Transient Lapses is about the frisson and vibration of liminal space and the hypnotic capacity of repetitive work. Domestic drudgery is traditionally the domain of women. My work explores the coping mechanisms used to dispel boredom, fatigue and melancholy. When daydreaming, our mind cycles through parts of the brain that are usually dormant or beyond reach, allowing for discovery and invention.
